I started thinking about doing this site while sitting around at home with my father. He needs full time care and I needed something to do. So this is mostly a site about what its like for us when living with and taking care of an aging parent.
Consider this a facebook page if you like. Or maybe it’s a virtual ‘ego trip’. Maybe I’m too stubborn or stuck up or something to actually sign up for Facebook but this just feels better to me. I had a website for a number of years set up for my mom’s business. When her condition declined, I tried to maintain it without her for several years but when we moved here, it seemed to complicated to keep it going. Thanks to some changes in our internet setup, it became easier to set up and maintain a website.
Our house has a copper roof and feels a bit like living in a tree house, hence, CopperTree House.
We’re a gay couple living with my elderly father in a house that we had remodeled to accommodate ‘aging-in-place’. What goes on around here isn’t necessarily that out of the ordinary. I look at this site as kind of an online journal of daily life while living with and taking care of an elderly parent with dementia while trying to maintain some semblance of a ‘normal’ life.
